In partnership with Fayetteville Public Schools, the City of Fayetteville will acquire Lewis Park from the University of Arkansas.
Why is it important?
In 2018 there was tremendous support from the community for the City to purchase the Lewis Park property. The University of Arkansas Agricultural Department had decided to sell the 27 acres after the 25-year lease with the City expired. This property, primarily used for youth and adult soccer, is strategically located in the center of the City, a highly used green space, and is important to controlling storm water runoff for the surrounding neighborhoods. Fayetteville Public Schools is interested in partnering with the City on the purchase of this property.
