Annual Celebration of Trees

The City of Fayetteville invites citizens to help maintain and grow our community's urban forest by taking home a FREE tree and/or shrub during the annual Celebration of Trees. Fayetteville Parks and Recreation staff and the City of Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board host this local celebration of Arbor Day on a Saturday morning in late October. The Celebration of Trees is a one-day event, but growing a tree is a sustained endeavor. Many native trees and shrubs in the program provide excellent benefits for birds and pollinators. Properly located trees around the home can add property value, reduce utility bills, and protect skin from the sun's UV rays. Giveaway participants are encouraged to plant and manage their trees or shrubs as an essential part of Fayetteville's urban forest.

Planting Tips - Right Tree, Right Place

Find out how to plant your new tree or shrub (PDF).
Trees can take many years to reach their mature height and spread. It is important for homeowners to take all surroundings into consideration when choosing the location for their new tree. To avoid heavy pruning or removal, consider the mature height of the tree and proximity near overhead power lines. Residents should always contact Arkansas One Call at 811 or 800-482-8998 before digging. For additional information on this year’s available trees and shrubs, please call the City’s urban foresters at 479-444-3486 or 479-444-3470.
